Designation is part of global effort to earn international sport recognition for baton twirling

After a comprehensive application and evaluation process, the United States Twirling Association (USTA) has been designated by the International Baton Twirling Federation (IBTF) as the U.S. representative to the IBTF. This designation means that USTA will be the sole organization responsible for holding qualifying events for IBTF international competitions held after 2025. Those competitions will include the World Championship, the Nations Cup, and other global competitions held in 2026 and beyond.

As the IBTF U.S. representative, USTA will serve and support ALL U.S. twirlers, coaches, judges, and other baton twirling supporters who wish to participate in international competition.

“As we take on this great responsibility as the U.S. representative to the IBTF, we are committed to grow and elevate our sport on the global stage,” said USTA President Karen Cammer. “We believe in the strength of collaboration and unity. We invite every member of the twirling community to join us on this journey.”

The selection of a single national body is an important step toward international recognition of the sport of baton twirling. While there are many details to work out as this new system is implemented, baton twirling athletes, professionals, and enthusiasts in the U.S. will finally be able to join forces to garner the respect and recognition our sport has long deserved and worked toward. The future holds incredible promise and potential for growth, education, and achievement.

Watch for more information in the coming weeks and months about what this means to you and how you can get involved as the U.S. baton twirling community comes TOGETHER to move our sport forward on the world stage.
